Coopertone Kids Making the Sunscreen Grade + Giveaway!

Coppertone has a new program in time for back to school called Making the Sunscreen Grade. As a significant amount of a person’s exposure to the sun occurs during childhood and melanoma rates are rising among U.S. children (according to this study), Coppertone wanted to address this important issue and enable parents to start a conversation with their schools to make sun protection a priority.

Sun Protection: A Priority for Families

Whether preparing nutritious lunches, scheduling physicals or establishing bedtime routines, parents do a lot to help keep their children safe and healthy during the school year.

Outdoor time is a key part of an active and healthy lifestyle. From recess and field days at school to summer activities at home, opportunities for kids to engage in outside play abound.

But spending time in the sun may also affect your child's skin health. Did you know just one blistering sunburn in childhood can increase the chance of developing skin cancer later in life?

Making sun protection a priority during outdoor activities, both at home and at school, is critical.

That's why Coppertone® is launching "Making the Sunscreen Grade," an educational program to help equip parents with tips and tools they can use to help children develop lifelong, sun-smart habits.

Join Coppertone® in Making the Sunscreen Grade

Depending on where your child goes to school, the options for sun protection during recess and other outdoor activities may differ. Parents may not be aware of the information available to them on this topic.

Although you may be applying sunscreen to your child before school or family fun, ideally it should be reapplied every two hours or after swimming, sweating or towel drying during outdoor activities, to avoid potentially risking unsafe sun exposure and sunburns.

When it comes to protecting children from the sun's rays, knowledge is power. Parents, school nurses, administrators, teachers and doctors can play a key role in instilling sun-smart habits in children by becoming sun-savvy themselves.

Browse the Family Suncare Toolkit tab on Coppertone.com for resources that can help you get started, such as:

Tips for initiating a conversation on sun protection options with school administrators
Sun protection advice from Dr. Ana M. Duarte, a pediatric dermatologist and consultant to the makers of Coppertone®
Surprising facts and figures about the sun

With some sun sense, you can help ensure that your family's summer moments are a little sunnier.

I found all the Coppertone products to be great for out in the sun, and I think we "made the grade" especially living in Florida, sunscreen is something we need and use daily, whether summer or winter, the sun is always blaring down on us here.
