Have You Tried Zaycon Foods?

How does Zaycon Foods manage to provide such high quality super fresh meat and produce to its customers at such low prices? The answer is strength in numbers. And not our numbers, yours!

http://www.usfamilyguide.com/_emailgraphics/zayconfoods.jpg
Zaycon Foods can sell its products at bulk rate prices to individual consumers and families because our unique sales event business model brings lots of people together, adding all their purchasing power into a combined bulk food purchase. And when you buy as part of a group that’s committing to such a large purchase, the power is in the hands of the purchaser! It’s the ultimate group buy in terms of both price and consumer empowerment.

http://www.usfamilyguide.com/_photogallery/2316.jpg
You can pre-select exactly what you want to order from a given Zaycon sales event – sometimes you may want to stock up on our amazing meaty back ribs and sometimes it might be all about the Zaycon bacon – and then, on the day of the sales event, you and a whole big bunch of your neighbors will find yourselves in a nearby parking lot watching as an entire tractor trailer’s worth of high quality natural food is unloaded into all of your cars! You will be amazed at how quickly one of our refrigerated trucks goes from being filled with natural, fresh chicken or hundreds of gallons of grade A non-homogenized milk to being empty and back on its way to the farm!

http://www.usfamilyguide.com/_photogallery/2321.jpg
A Zaycon Foods truck sales event often lasts less time than you would spend on a trip to the grocery store, yet you will leave with a whole lot more food than you’d get at the market, and for much better prices, too!
When you use the Zaycon Foods sales event as your preferred place to purchase meats, milk, and any of our other fine products, you get advantages even beyond the bulk pricing that comes with our special sales model. You also have the peace of mind of knowing exactly what you’re going to get! A trip to the grocery store can involve wasted time wandering around looking for various foods spread out across the store; at a Zaycon Foods parking lot meat truck delivery (or milk or berries or fish delivery, too!) you have pre-ordered your foods, so all you have to do is show up and wait for our friendly staffers and volunteers to load up your car.

http://www.usfamilyguide.com/_photogallery/2317.jpg
Also, unlike in the grocery store, the prices you will pay for a Zaycon Foods product are locked in on our website, so you will know how much you are going to spend before you have committed to a purchase.
At a supermarket, you might pay one price for chicken on one day, and then a higher price on another day. With Zaycon, you decide that you want to order a case of our fresh boneless skinless chicken breasts, you check the price and then you commit to it, knowing that from that moment on, we are committed to getting you your fresh, natural food!

WallCandyArts Review and $50 Giveaway

Since I home school. I am always looking for products that have more than one function. I like cute things in my home, but I also like them to be useful.

I'm sure most of you have heard of chalk paint. The paint that when it dries you can draw on the walls. I tried this in Riley's room a couple of years ago, and the problem with it, was that it didn't wipe clean like a chalkboard. Once he drew something, the remnants were always there.

So, I have been wanting something to write on, for the kids, something that isn't like an easel to take up space, and when I saw these Chalk Board Panels at Wall Candy Arts, I knew I had to have them!

The Chalkboard Panels I got came with 4 (19" h x 24.5" w each) to be used separately or combined for a large 49" w x 38" h chalkboard writing surface. Chalk is included.

I decided to split them up into 4 smaller panels versus one large one, though they could also be made into one bigger one and 1 or 2 smaller ones. I wanted the 4 to be in different places.

The first one (above) I did as a chore chart for my husband and I, since I am constantly reminding him of what day we "power clean" each room.

The second chart, I did as a chore chart for the kids, they get check marks every day when they complete their chores and at the end of the week they get $5 allowance.

I am planning on using the other 2 panels for school work, but since we are re-vapming the school area of the house, I am waiting until that is done to put them up (stay tuned for pics!)

So far, I really love the panels. They wipe off easily and I like that they can be peeled off the wall and re-stuck somewhere else.

There are SO many uses for them. I was also thinking of putting one on the refrigerator and using it as a grocery list, or in the kids rooms to write notes for them when they wake up, or even using them for the "House Rules" the possibilities are endless!

Right now, you can save 25% on any removable wall decor with code freedom25.

One of our readers is going to win a $50 gift card to get their own Wall Candy Arts product!

So Delicious Dairy Free Review and Giveaway

Almond, Coconut and Soy beverages, ice creams and yogurts

I have never been a milk drinker. Some people LOVE milk..I was born allergic, and though I outgrew my allergy, because I never drank it as a kid, I never got the taste for it, and now I just think it's not good.

I remember when I was little eating cereal with apple juice on it instead of milk, and when I went on my first sleepover, the other kids laughed at me, because i was the only one who didn't have milk. I wish there was something around back then like So Delicious.

So Delicious is all the milk based products I love, like yogurt, ice cream and even milk..without the cows milk. So Delicious is made from coconut milk, almond milk and soy milk!

I was lucky enough to get a few VIP Coupons for free products (don't worry! I saved a few for a giveaway!) to try some of the products and tell you guys which ones I liked best.

First of all, I tried 3 products. I wanted some variety, so I went with ice cream, yogurt and milk.

Minis Coconut Almond Bars
These So Delicious Dairy Free Coconut  Almond bars are to DIE for..seriously, they are better than the other brand that looks like this, and I love the fact that they are made with coconut milk..once you get to the ice cream part of the bar, you can really taste the coconut..all the flavors go perfectly together.

Original Almond Plus™ 5X

Next, I tried the Almond Plus 5x Protein Milk. This is a product as I said earlier that I wish had been around when I was a kid. I haven't eaten much cereal in the last 15 years because using juice on a sigar cereal is just too sweet. I am SO happy to be able to eat cereal again!

Blueberry Cultured Coconut Milk
Finally, I tried to So Delicious Cultured Coconut Milk, which is like yogurt. So coconut milk is already awesome, and now to have it as yogurt was even better. I have always cringed at yogurt because of the whole "milk aversion" and this one tastes so great, creamy and smooth.

You can find most of these products in mass retailers like Target, and some of them are harder to find, so check your local Whole Foods Market or similar health food store.

One reader is going to win 3 FREE Coupons for any So Delicious product! Enter using the rafflecopter form below. Good Luck!

Sophie's Kitchen Review and Giveaway

My family and I are not vegans. But we try to eat as little meat products as possible. One thing I worry about too with young children is seafood allergies. That's why I love Sophie's Kitchen products.

8% of children under the age of 18 suffer from seafood allergies

Sophie's Kitchen products are 100% vegan, and made from a plant used in Asia for centuries called "konjac flower"

Sophie's Kitchen was created by the parents of  "Sophie" a darling little girl who loved seafood, but was allergic. Her parents wanted to give her another option.

Some of the varieties include:
  • Vegan Crab Cakes
  • Breaded Vegan Scallops
  • Breaded Vegan Fish Filets
  • Breaded Vegan Calamari
  • Breaded Vegan Shrimp
  • Vegan Prawns
  • Breaded Vegan Fishless Sticks
  • Breaded Vegan Coconut Shrimp
  • Vegan Smoked Salmon
Unfortunately, the only product I found in my local whole foods to try was the Vegan Prawns.

I decided to make a shrimp and pasta dish, which is basically the Vegan Prawns cooked in butter with lemon pepper seasoning and tossed angel hair pasta.

The kids and I both loved it. My husband was skeptical at first. He knows most Vegan/Vegetarian products are made with soy...if you don't know, too much soy can be VERY bad for you. Once I showed him the packaging and he saw there was NO soy, he tried it and thought it was delicious. It was also much less expensive than regular prawns would have been.

This is one of their best selling products, I really hope to find it in another store to try it soon.

Overall, we loved the Sophie's Kitchen products and will definitely be trying them again.

One reader is going to win 3 FREE coupons for Sophie's Kitchen products. Enter using the rfflecopter form below. Good Luck!

Oogie's Gourmet Popcorn Review

My family has become such a creature of habit. We eat dinner, and go straight to the couch for some family TV time. Usually about halfway through our movie, everyone is ready for a snack.

Eat More Oogies!

We ALWAYS opt for a gluten free snack, just to make it easier on Riley.

I recently discovered Oogie's Gourmet Popcorn. It comes in flavors like Smoked Gouda, White Cheddar and Sundried Tomato and Parmesan!

These are SO much better than the popcorn we used to eat (i'm not even gonna say, but it involved a microwave).

One of the family's favorites right now is the Spicy Chipotle and Lime.

Spicy Chipotle & Lime

It actually has just the right amount of heat....though as a family we eat spicy foods, so your tastes may differ from ours.

A southwestern staple, Chipotlé are made from the finest deep red jalapenos then smoked for days to remove the moisture (it takes ten pounds of jalapenos to make one pound of Chipotlé!). These hip peppers deliver a deliciously spicy concoction with just the right balance of heat and sweet. We added a subtle kiss of lime to take you all the way to the bottom of the bag.

The kids really like the Kettle variety.

Kettle Corn Original

We took the beloved sweet & salty kettle corn and Oogiefied it with the best natural ingredients we could find, like evaporated cane juice, sea salts, and of course our proprietary corn. Then we added some secret touches that separate Oogie’s from all the other popcorns. The result is a Kettle Corn that is both traditional and modern all at once. No more waiting until the fair comes to town, Oogie’s Kettle Corn keeps the fun going all year round.

What I love about all these, is the ingredients! Look at this!

Ingredients: Premium Popped Corn (Non-GMO), Evaporated Cane Sugar, Sunflower Oil (Non-GMO), Sea Salt, Natural Flavor (Contains Dairy), Soy Lecithin

You can purchase Oogies at natural food stores like Whole Foods Market, or online here.

Follow Oogie's Gourmet Popcorn on Facebook or Twitter.

Rob's Really Good Review

Cucumber Zero

I recently had the chance to try Rob's Really Good drinks. They come in flavor varieties like Cucumber, Coconut, and Tart Cherry.

You can buy these in places like Whole Foods Market, or online here.

The Cucumber was a great flavor, crisp and clean, we really enjoyed it, but the whole family agreed the Coconut Pineapple is the best!

Coconut Pineapple Zero

Rob's Really Good drinks are all natural and naturally sweetened.

Fundraiser Packages from GalloLea Pizza Kits!

Riley absolutely LOVES pizza. This is a huge problem because we try to keep him 99% gluten free. It's been challenging finding a good pizza dough that tastes good to the whole family because a 6 year old can't eat a whole pizza alone!

I was recently given the opportunity to try GalloLea Pizza Kits which come in Gluten Free, Whole Wheat or Low Sodium varieties.

The low sodium is really good for me too because of my high blood pressure!

Something else that got me really excited about GalloLea Pizza Kits, is that they offer fundraisers!

Tired of selling gift wrap and candy?
Try our Pizza Kit. With a great price-point and several product selections, including Gluten Free, sales will come easy for your group, school or church. Pizza is appealing to kids and adults alike and our Pizza Kit is a true quality product, loved by anyone who loves pizza!

Q Drinks Review and Giveaway

We were huge soda drinkers, until for Riley's sake, we cut out caffeine and most of the stuff that isn't good for us..we ate too many processed foods in the past. It's been really hard finding a good replacement for soda.

Then, I heard of Q Drinks.

This is their inspiration.

We are inspired to change your relationship with soda.

Most sodas are lousy. Designed from unpronounceable ingredients by multinational corporations, sweetened beyond recognition with high fructose corn syrup, and packaged in generic containers, the typical soda is an afterthought that adds nothing to the drinking experience.
Q Drinks makes the world's best sodas - clean, crisp, completely ungeneric beverages that stand proudly on their own or enhance the finest spirits. We use the best ingredients we can find - organic agave from the Mexican countryside, quinine from the slopes of the Peruvian Andes, ginger from the fields of Southeast Asia, and salt from the Himalayas. Jordan agonizes over his recipes to make sure each bottle has balance, depth, and complexity. And we worked with one of New York City's best young designers to develop bottles as beautiful as the liquid they hold. We've come up with superior sodas. Spectacular on their own and good enough for anything you want to mix them with.

Q Drinks claims to make the "world's best ginger ale"
Unlike other ginger ales, Q Ginger is made with:
  • Real ginger
  • A dash of Organic Agave, not loads of high fructose corn syrup or sugar
  • A touch of coriander, cardamom, cayenne, rose oil, and orange peel
  • Only 60 calories
  • A beautiful glass package, which preserves taste and carbonation
My husband who is a HUGE ginger ale drinker, thought he would give his opinion.

He says "Definitely not your grocery store ginger ale. This is real ginger here, spicy and sweet, this is delicious"

Q Drinks come in 7 flavors:
  1. Kola
  2. Ginger
  3. Club
  4. Tonic
  5. Orange
  6. Grapefruit
  7. Lemon
I had the opportunity to try 3 of these flavors (Kola, Ginger and Tonic) and while the Ginger was my favorite, the Kola was very good as well. I am hoping to try the fruit flavors soon!

Rollie EggMaster Review and Giveaway

I absolutely LOVE omelettes. I love them so much. The only thing I don't like, is making them. They are not hard to make, but clean up is such a pain!

Recently, I heard a friend of mine talking about Rollie Eggmaster. It's a vertical non stick cooking device.

Basically, you crack your eggs in a bowl, add whatever you like (we use chopped green onions and salt and pepper) then whisk well and drop into the Rollie Eggmaster. The eggs will start to pop out of the grill when they are done.

It's really that easy! They take about 3-5 minutes depending on how well done you like them.

The best part is, the Rollie is NOT just for eggs! You can also cook biscuits, wraps and cinnamon rolls! I tried mine with the refrigerated cinnamon roll dough, and they came out perfectly!

Breakfast is a hassle; it’s messy and you’re busy. But now there’s a way for you and your family to have a hot breakfast – with the Rollie® EggMaster! Just crack your egg, pour it in and watch it pop up in minutes! And eggs are just the beginning, make tasty rollie burritos, perfect pizza rollies or cinnamon rollies for a delectable dessert.  The Rollie® EggMaster makes pop-up treats that EVERYONE loves to eat!
You can purchase a Rollie here for just $29.99! Comes with Rollie EggMaster, 5 skewers, 1 cleaning brush, 1 packing tool, 1 recipe guide and a 1 year warranty.

Sterishoe Review and Giveaway*

Xander has really bad smelly feet. I mean, it's so bad, ever since he was little, if we went anywhere with Casey, she would FREAK out if he took his shoes off in the car. Nothing has ever helped. We have tried washing the shoes more often, washing his feet a few times a day, we tried odor eaters..nothing helped at all.

Then, recently I heard about Sterishoe Shoe Sanitizer which is an ulrtaviolet shoe sanitizer.
Here is a video of how it works.

The SteriShoe Ultraviolet sanitizer is an innovative foot care product that provides a healthier environment for your feet by sanitizing the inside of your shoes. The SteriShoe shoe sanitizer is the only product clinically proven to kill up to 99.9% of problematic microorganisms!

Using germicidal ultraviolet light (UVC), the SteriShoe shoe sanitizer kills the organisms that cause:
Toe nail fungus - Athlete's foot - Offensive shoe odor

When you take off your shoes you can insert the SteriShoe sanitizer into your shoes as you would insert a normal shoe tree. A simple press of a button starts a 45 minute treatment cycle. After 45 minutes up to 99.9% of the harmful microbes that can cause toenail fungus, athlete's foot and offensive shoe odor are destroyed.

You buy these in the specific size you need, because they fit perfectly in the shoe. I have noticed a tremendous difference in Xander's shoes since I started using the Sterishoe Shoe Sanitizer, and I hope to see even more, since every new pair we buy will go straight to the sanitizer.

One reader is going to win a Sterishoe Shoe Sanitizer for themselves.

Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich Recipe and Good Cook Giveaway

Good Cook recently asked some bloggers to make their favorite sandwich using some awesome Good Cook products.

GC-sandwich

With my husband being from Guyana, we use a lot of curry. So I decided to share one of my go-to sandwich recipes with you.

Curry Chicken Salad on a Croissant
Ingredients (makes 2 sandwiches):
2 croissants sliced lengthwise
1 cooked chicken breast (diced)
1 tbsp. mayo
1/4 tsp. curry powder
1 chopped green onion
A few spinach leaves
salt and pepper to taste

Directions: Combine chicken, mayo, curry powder, green onion and salt and pepper in a bowl and mix well. Spread on croissant and top with spinach.

All of the Good Cook products made my sandwich making so much easier, the cutting boards are awesome, and I love that they are small so I don't have to wash them in between when I am cutting several ingredients. I didn't get to use the Tomato Slicer, or the Cheese Slicer for this sandwich, but I definitely plan to use it soon and will let you guys know how I like it!

Betty Crocker Gluten Free Baking Mixes Something The Whole Family Can Enjoy

Some of my family has food allergies which makes it hard to share foods. But, thanks to Betty Crocker Gluten Free Baking Mixes we are able to have one more meal together.

Betty Crocker has a great selection of most of your favorite cake mixes only now Gluten Free. I have never tried a Gluten free mix before (though Brian eats them all the time) and was curious on how everyone else would take it. I went with the Devils Food because all my family loves chocolate and I also purchased the whipped dark chocolate icing (all Betty Crocker icings are Gluten Free) .

Betty Crocker has a whole selection of gluten free products to choose from like the devils food, chocolate chip cookies, yellow cake, brownies and more. When I started to make the Gluten Free mix I noticed right away that it was easy like a normal cake. Add 3 eggs, water and butter. I poured the mix and noticed right away too that it was lighter than a normal cake mix and seemed to have more sugar, but once mixed it was very thick... more like a brownie mix than a cake.

The Gluten Free Betty Crocker cake mix takes about a average of about 40mins to bake, it smells really good about 15mins into baking. I used a round cake pan which takes 43-48mins but I have it set for 40mins so I can check it and go from there.

The moment of truth.......................do they like it?????   Success!!! My kids ate it up! Finally a new way to have some good family time that everyone can enjoy.

Betty Crocker is offering a nice baking set from Joseph and Joseph to one of my readers, which includes a baking tool set and a cake pan. Enter the rafflecopter below for your chance to win. Contest will end 7/7/13. Open to U.S. residents only.

Torie and Howard Organic Hard Candy Review and Giveaway!

I love LOVE candy, it's rare for me not to have candy on hand. So, how great to get to review a better option of candy.

Torie and Howard is an Organic Hard Candy, which comes in 4 flavors.
  1. Pear & Cinnamon
  2. Pink Grapefruit & Tupelo Honey
  3. Blood Orange & Honey
  4. Pomegranate & Nectarine

First off, right away, when I got the package the tins stood out for me. When I was younger my mom would always buy a hard candy in a tin which we could only seem to find at Publix, and it was a healthy fruity candy, so the tins brought good memories of me and my mom sharing them. The tins are very cute and easy to open. What makes them also great is that each candy is individually in its own wrapper.

Torie and Howard Candy is great, I took some to work and shared everyone was saying "they are so good!"  Each flavor is true to what is on the wrapper. You really taste each fruit.  I know other candies that have "fruit" flavors are sometimes nothing like what the true taste is. They candies last for awhile with just sucking on them and they have a great after taste which can be as important as the candy itself.

Torie and Howard Candies are kosher certified free of any preservatives, additives, artificial flavoring, chemicals or dyes and allergy friendly.

I really love LOVE the Torie and Howard candies and will be buying them again, between me and my kids we had them finished them all within about 3 days. They are just that good. You can purchase the candies by clicking here. You can also find them in most health food stores or Whole Foods Grocery Stores.

Enter to win 4 tins (one of each flavor) so you can try all of the best candies. Enter the rafflecopter below. Contest will end 7/4/13

Good Cook It's a Keeper Review and Giveaway

Recently Good Cook asked several bloggers to try their "Profreshionals" fruit and veggie keepers.
I have always had trouble storing fruit and vegetables. In Florida, it's SO hot, that most things left on the counter go bad in a DAY! Storing them in the refrigerator is fine, but they still tend to go bad, and it's really hard to find my green pepper in the drawer full of carrots!

I really like these keepers, let's start with my favorite.

This is the Cantaloupe Keeper. I love this one the best, maybe because it's the biggest, but it is really handy for all kinds of melon. We made a fruit salad a few days ago and it has stayed fresh in the keeper!

Next, we have the Green Pepper Keeper. This one is awesome! I love that I can use it for not only green peppers, but it's just the right size for several other vegetables.

The Banana Keeper is supposed to be used to store a half of a banana. No one in my house can't eat a whole banana at one time, but what I use it for, is when I go to work, I can put my whole banana inside (cutting off the stem) and I don't have to worry about it getting squished or destroyed in my purse.

The Asparagus Keeper is really nice. It is used because when you buy asparagus, you should keep the stems cut and in water until ready to use. There really isn't another good way to do this except with this keeper.

The Grapefruit Keeper is perfect for those who eat a half of a grapefruit in the morning and want to save the rest for another day. I remember my grandma used to ave hers wrapped in plastic wrap, and her whole refrigerator smelled like grapefruit!

The Citrus Keeper is great for storing a half of a lemon, I know when I put my lemon slices right in the refrigerator, they go dry very quickly. With this keeper, they stay fresh much longer.

Finally, the Tomato Keeper stores tomatoes really well. We usually use a few slices on sandwiches, and now have a great way to store the remainder.

My way of using the keepers though is actually very unconventional. I have been using them on Taco Night with the family. I put the ground turkey in the Cantaloupe Keeper, the lettuce in the Grapefruit Keeper, the flour tortillas rolled up in the Asparagus Keeper, the cheese in the Pepper Keeper, the tomatoes in the Tomato Keeper and the onions in the Citrus Keeper.

It's really festive and when we are done, everything has a lid and can go back in the fridge!

I also wanted to share a recipe with you that I made using my Tomato Keeper.

Baked Tuna Tomato Melts

Ingredients:
  • 1 whole tomato
  • 1 can tuna
  • 2 small sweet pickles (chopped)
  • 2 TBSP mayonaise
  • 2 TBSP diced onion
  • 1 slice of cheddar cheese
Take the tuna, pickles, onion, and mayo and combine in a bowl. Then take the tomato and cut the stem part out, then cut about a 2 inch diameter hole in the top of the tomato (think like carving a pumpkin) and use a spoon to scoop out the inside. Fill the tomato with the tuna mixture and top with the cheese. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.

I like mine to be firm so that I can just pick it up in my hand and eat it, but of course you can bake it for much longer (don't add the cheese until the end) and have the tomato be very baked and soft.
